Common Questions

Family Counselling Questions

Do I need a GP referral or a Mental Health Care Plan?

No. You can contact us directly and book a session without a referral, a Mental Health Care Plan, or a letter from a doctor. Family counselling here is a private service, so there is nothing to obtain beforehand.

How much does low-cost family counselling cost in Adelaide?

Sessions in our student clinic are $60 inclusive of GST, with Masters-level practitioners working under the clinical supervision of experienced therapists. Our experienced practitioners set their own fees, which are listed on the Therapists page. If you hold a concession card, tell us when you enquire and we will talk through what is available.

Can we come as a couple, as a family, or on our own?

All three. We see individuals, couples and families, and family sessions can include children where it is appropriate for their age and where everyone with parental responsibility has consented.

Is what we say confidential?

Yes. What is discussed in sessions stays in sessions, with clear legal limits where there is a concern about the safety of a child or another person. These limits are explained at the first session, before anything sensitive is discussed.

Ready to talk?

Send an enquiry and tell us who needs support and what has been happening. We will suggest a practitioner and a fee that fits.
